Receiving the Nari Shakti Award

On International Women's Day, President Ram Nath Kovind presented Avani with the "Nari Shakti Award",  the highest civilian honor for women, in recognition of Avani's service towards Indian society and women’s empowerment. We were so proud to have been given this award, and are immensely thankful to each and every one of the staff members, artisans, farmers, volunteers, interns, and donors who got us here. 

Our campus has been in a celebratory mood over the past week. In addition to our annual International Women's Day celebrations (described in a previous blog post), our team posed for a photo with the award yesterday.
